Shoes are like tires

One of the most important part of any pair of shoes is the soles. They are like tires on a car. After all, they are the only part that touches the road. As a general rule, most shoes last up to 500 miles. However, how and where we use our shoes could alter that number.

For example, trail or gravel will wear down a pair of shoes faster than pavement, wood floor or carpet. Then again it will also depends on the component; Thermo Rubber is more fragile to pavement abrasion than gravel. Moreover, wearing the same pair of shoes every day, will provoke a faster degradation of the soles.

To increase the life span of your soles, alternate: avoid wearing the same pair many days consecutively. The soles of your shoes are what take the brunt of the daily beating, so it's important not to wear the same pair of shoes every day if you want to extend their life.

As discussed on a previous blog, it’s also about hygiene and it is important to let your shoes breath between wear.

Also just like tires that have been stored away for too long, components of the soles such as PVC, polyurethane and TR will be damaged by time even if the shoes look brand new. The material will literally desintegrate in a grany powder with the slightest manipulation.
