Need a vacation? Ever thought about going on cruise?

Very recently a girlfriend of mine invited me to join her on a cruise. I had never been on a cruise before and it wasn't one of my top five types of vacation to go on, but I decided 2017 was going to be a year where I try new things and stepped out of my comfort zone and went on more trips, so I decided to take her up on her offer and go on that cruise.

I must say that one of my fears of going on a Cruise wasn’t that the boat would sink, but rather that I would end up being bored. You know, you’re on a ship, so there’s not much to see or do other than the activities on board, eating and sleeping. Anyhow, I kept an open mind.

We were to be a group of people, 12 to be exact, mostly her sons and their friends and girlfriends. Which basically, in my mind, meant that we were going to be pretty much on our own on this boat. A bunch of youngsters probably wouldn’t want to hang out with a couple of a little more mature women.

So how was it on the boat ?

  • The first things I noticed was that the boat was filled with people and food ! I haven’t seen so much food, and it’s available all the time! Like literally from the moment you wake up to the wee hours of the night! if you want to lose weight don't go on a cruise!!

  • And people, you can't turn a corner without running into someone there's people everywhere! But the interesting fact is so that even though there’s lots and lots of people around every everyone is on vacation, so they are happy and smile and make conversation… of course, they drink a lot so that might have something to do with it too.

  • As for the activities during the day, I can't say that I enjoyed those much; there's a lot of line dancing going on which I don't care for. You can walk around the deck, lay in the sun around the pool, use the gym, climb up and down the 10 stories of the boat (my thighs were so hard after the cruise! It’s quite a good workout!) or you know you can just stay by the bar and watch the beautiful people have fun in the sun, spark conversations and meet new people.

  • And no, you don’t feel the movement of the boat much. Mind you we had gorgeous weather so not many waves to rock the boat, although that would have been cool to experience.

  • In the evening, there are a lot of more things to do; there's a piano bar with a can go there and sing along with the Piano Man, there’s the latino bar where you can dance la salsa, if you like that kind of thing, and there's the club where all the younger folks go to drink and dance.

  • And there's shows every single night! Some wonderfully entertaining, gorgeous shows that you can really enjoy and some more games that are pretty exciting to participate in.

We stopped at two different location; shopped, drank coconut water and soaked up the sun on a magnificent sunny beach!

So, did I get bored? Well, thanks to the group we were with, no. They were younger but SO much fun to be around!

In conclusion; a cruise is an exquisite vacation to either relax – because there’s not much else to do – or to be with a bunch of friends and party it out!
