January is the best time to make resolutions for the new year.

Year after year, the desire to take care of ourselves comes back in resolutions: (Lose weight, eat more fruits and vegetables, stop smoking, move more, etc.)

But what about our feet? They are the forgotten ones. And yet, they are so important in our daily life and in key moments of our lives. Our feet play an essential role in our balance, shock absorption and propulsion while supporting the weight of our body. Functions that seem so natural ...

The foot has one of the most important mechanics of our body. The adult foot is made of 26 bones - that is, for both feet, a quarter of the bones that make up the entire human skeleton -, 16 joints, 107 ligaments ensuring their protection and limiting mobility, 20 muscles that allow their movement. It is because of them that man evolved and became the most mobile terrestrial mammal, moving with fluidity and complex coordinated movements.

Our small little feet, which from birth were covered with kisses, who experienced walking, climbing furniture and stairs. These feet that allowed us to dance, to score the winning goal of soccer, to brake during our first bike rides ... Do you remember your first shoes with laces? The practice, the failure, the pride of well laced shoes. The rainy days to jump in the mud, worn shoes playing and dragging on the ground all summer. Our feet lead us to do so much and to cover so many miles. The first stilettos of teenage girls and the kisses stolen on tiptoe ... They crossed borders, climbed mountains, allowed us to approach a first job with confidence. They propped us to get back up after falls, they were bruised, wounded, locked up and compressed in shoes that were not always well adapted ... They led us to our beloved. For some, they walk down the aisle, for others walked through the doors of the first house and allowed to flee on tiptoe, to escape the baby's room.

Oh yes, these feet have lived! They are loyal and present for the job for everyday and in all the essential tasks day in and day out, in our daily routines and habits.

So I realize that it is high time for me to take care of them. Caring for my feet is not just about having pretty feet. It also preventing and curing infections, certain pains, problems such as trauma, ingrown toenails, and all small and large sores that would prevent us from having a good quality of life and allow our feet to continue to carry us.
